(More customer reviews)My last Swiss Army watch lasted me over 20 years and is still ticking, but I wanted a replacement as I felt the need for something new. This watch caught my attentions as it looked like something I could beat up at work and have last a few years.
As soon as I opened the box the watch came in I immediately noticed the plastic. The timer dial is a light weight plastic, and the numbers and marking on the outer dial are actually painted on. I've had the watch three days and the white paint on the numbers is already chipped and that is just from casual wear. You would think for a $200+ watch, they would have used paint that would last more than three days.
The band is truly rubber as is advertised. Its a very "plasticy" cheap feeling rubber. I was expecting something a little more comfortable, but the band is more plastic than rubber and is stiff and uncomfortable. The band is firmly attached the body of the watch though which is a positive.
The watch itself is great. There is truly fine craftsmanship on the dial, the arms look crisp, and the numbers are easy to see in most circumstance. The night glow in unimpressive, unless you really hold it under a light for awhile, don't expect to see that time after 20 to 30 minutes.
It was hard rating this watch as a three star. It does its job, it is just not as high quality of a product the Swiss Army watches were 20 years ago. It just over priced plastic parts now.
