(More customer reviews)Tired of wearing watches the size of Frisbees, thick as bricks and twice as heavy, poorly made and just plain garish? The Victorinox Summit XLT could be the watch for you!
The Summit XLT model line has been around a long time and this version is an update of a somewhat simpler model that I owned 7-8 years ago. The older watch had less visual appeal in the dial and hands than this current model, but there has been little change in the overall design of the case, bracelet and rotating bezel. The design is similar to that of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 line of Swiss quartz watches, but for much, much less money. The Summit is functional, comfortable, fairly light weight --- the dial and hands are easy to read and the hands have good luminosity, with a very bright luminous "dot" at the zero point on the non-metallic rotating bezel. The stated case measurements of 39-40mm diameter and 9.6-10mm thick (depending on the source) are accurate, but the watch looks smaller, especially in thickness. The dial is deep blue with sunray pattern and part of the updated styling is the addition of double-size Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 and a red-tipped second hand. The date is at the "4" position on the dial. The bracelet is solid-link and highly and easily adjustable and is flexible and comfortable into the bargain. The crown does not screw down to the case, but the Summit still offers 100 meter water resistance. To sum up -- a good-looking, masculine watch with basic functions, very solid feel, light weight and a touch of styling flair, but little glitz and a reasonable price for Swiss made quality. This would certainly be one of the watches I would add to any list of "Men's timepieces for all occaisions" and "The watch for men who prefer to own only one watch".
