(More customer reviews)If you can only afford one watch, this is it. The watch has it all, a swiss made automatic movement, a very handsom blue face, a good looking metal strap. It looks good in the club, the opera, or just out and about while doing errands.
As a time piece the watch is excellent; as are almost Swiss Army products. The dark blue dial contrasts well with the silver metal markings and numbers. Day and date are also very readable. The hands are well proportioned, and add to the over all functionality of the watch. Even the secondary GMT (24) markings are clearly laid out in black type.
The only weak spot in the watch is the Lume. Swiss Army is very stingy with the lume, making the watch unreadable in low light. The power reserve is adequate to the task, with the 32hour reserve somewhat optimistic. If the watch is not on the wrist, daily winding is required to keep accurate time.
With its sapphire crystal, the watch will survive the usual minor dings of typical use. Sapphire resists scratching and scrapping fairly well. Still, this is not the watch to take out rock climbing or even canoeing. Pay no attention to the 100m water resistant claim. The watch does not have a screw-down crown, and will not survive any kind of prolonged submersion in water.
Where the watch excels is in its classic, conservative, good looks. It exudes a casual, confident masculinity. It has a rugged, if restrained, look. Because of that, and the metal band, it looks good both with a business suite and with a t-shirt / jeans combo. The watch really grows on you, and you will find it becoming your go-to watch. It is the perfect gift for just about any member of male species, but especially the older subset of that group.
