They obviously believe if it goes over USD$1000, they need to do this (set in their software). They just lost my purchase as I am not willing to provide them with that money for up to 60 days for no reason. The Aussie dollar is about USD108 at this time and at that rate (or even lower) it is not above Aud$1000 which is when you have to pay GST etc. Anything below there is no tax and I am not giving Amazon over $100 deposit for them to keep for up to 60 days, Hey Amazon - get real!!
I think this watch is a great example of the Swiss ETA movement in a great case - Hey Amazon bring the price down about $50 and you have me.
