Wenger Men's Battalion III Diver watch #72346 Review

I have owned a swiss army watch before and loved it. Unfortunately I lost it and bought this as a replacement. I have only owned it for a few days so as for durability I can only say that it works perfectly so far and my last one performed admirably for several years. The watch also comes with a three year manufacturers warranty. What I like most about this watch is the fact that it looks incredible, better than the picture. The form, the color, the weight, the size of the face, all flawless. The aesthetics of the watch are essentially as good as any for any price. Having said that, the second hand does not line up exactly on the one second increment markers but that is the only true imperfection I have noticed so far and should not bother anyone but the truly obsessive. This watch screams good taste, and is very fairly priced when considering swiss craftsmanship. Don't be put off by the swiss-army knife credentials of the manufacturer, this watch is no novelty tool and should gain you some credit as a man of refinement.

Wenger Swiss Military Men's 72936 Sport VII Military Watch Review

I have been wearing an expensive Invicta watch for years. While it was a nice watch, it never seemed to keep time. It would either be fast or slow. I know about the reputation of Wenger and how good their watches are supposed to be. I bought this watch and I am glad I did. It is not quite as big as my Invicta was, but it is still a good size watch. IT KEEPS GREAT TIME!! This watch is always on the mark. The swiss quartz movement is definitely the way to go. I had to remove a few links to get the watchband to fit exactly right, but it has become a part of me every since receiving it. I would recommend this watch to anyone. You will not be disappointed!

Wenger Men's 70891 Swiss Raid Commando Chrono Series Watch Review

Wenger Men's 70891 Swiss Raid Commando Chrono Series Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This watch is branded after the famous 'Swiss Raid Commando' military competition held annually in Switzerland and France since 1986 of which Wenger is a sponsor. The watch features the SRC logo on the obverse in color along with the French language motto "Vouloir, Croire et Oser", which translates in English to "Want, Believe and Dare". This branding may be important to a special ops soldier, military veteran or collector, but it should be understood that such branding comes with a price premium.
PROS:
Overall the watch has a heft and feeling of quality and refinement, it should prove quite satisfying for those looking for a unique style military piece. The stainless steel case is coated in black via Physical Vapor Deposition, or PVD which bonds to the steel on a molecular level, meaning no chipping or flaking and high resistance to scratching (as are the crown and two activators). The mineral crystal is slightly domed and without flaws. The screw back is non-coated stainless with the SRC color logo inset at center and encapsulated in what appears to be mineral crystal. On the back is also the lightly etched Wenger logo and specs.
*The face of this watch is the draw for many; a large clean, crisp dial in "nuclear green" with three sub-dials in the same hue. The watch is quite readable at most angles although the rather large arrow point hour/minute hands can obscure the sub-dials. If you want something strikingly clean and purposeful, this is it.
*The luminance of the dial at night is astonishing! Every detail is visible in the dark after just a couple hours of sun. If the watch is exposed to sun (even overcast, winter skies in the Northeast US) it will be visible throughout the darkest, moonless nights. I have never owned a watch with this ability.
*The rubber(*) strap is substantial and comfortable.
*The 30 minute/12 hour chronograph is intuitive and accurate. The lap time feature is easy to use.
CONS:
You can easily buy a watch with the same quality and more functions for less money. Without the SRC branding, unique style dial and Swiss caveat this watch would be priced $100 less.
*I am a fan of the accuracy of battery-quartz watches, but there is no excuse for selling one at this price point without a solar recharging system similar to Citizen's Eco-Drive. I purchased this Wenger despite the fact that one day in the near future I know it will stop working and I will have to take it to a jeweler for an expensive battery replacement/resealing. The Japanese have figured out how to do this, why haven't the Swiss?
*Lacking a screw down crown and only certified to 10atm is a bit lackluster for a $220+ watch branded to a rigorous military competition. I would be highly dubious of jumping into a lake or snorkeling with a watch lacking a screw-down crown. I own two Citizens (one titanium) rated to 20atm with the same features plus solar and screw crowns costing $100 less. Once again, the Swiss need to catch up.
*The crystal is neither sapphire nor non-reflective, add to that its slight dome and I wonder how long before an unsightly scratch? A rugged military time piece of this price should have a sapphire crystal.
*While the rubber(*) band is comfortable and thick, it's also quite gummy. Time will tell how durable it is but it seems as though if pulled too hard over time it might harden and separate. Once again I feel a military branded piece such as this should have been given a more durable band.
SUM UP:
While this Wenger is a quality watch and has some collector appeal, its main selling point is appearance, not function or economy. There are dozens of watches which perform the same functions with similar or better quality at a much lower cost. But if you're a sucker for a striking "nuclear green" on black watch which will perform perfectly until the battery runs out, then you'll buy one just as I have and enjoy it in the dark!
(*)It is unclear whether the band material on this watch is organic rubber or silicone rubber. The Wenger site states that the band of this watch is "rubber" while using the term "silicon" for bands on other watches. This is an important distinction and one which Wenger should clear up.

Three green chronograph subdials populate the black dial, along with a date window, and luminous green indices. Encircling the dial, the black inner bezel doubles as a tachymeter. the commando series of watches from wenger happens to be my favorite everyday watch. and this one is a very nice piece. it is very comfortable to wear all day. even with the thick 14mm x 42mm case it sits on the wrist perfectly(even with my tiny wrists). the stainles bracelet is well made and very pleasing to look at. you can tell the crafstman ship is top notch and will last. the styling is very simple yet striking. all the dials and hands are as precise as can be, even under magnification i can't find a single flaw or short fall. i've also been getting compliments on this watch left and right. people expect it to be an $800+ watch but when i tell them how much i actually payed for it, their jaws drop. for me i refuse to wear anything over $500 on my wrist as an "everyday" watch. and for the money wenger is my only choice.

Wenger Men's 70163 Commando Series Watch Review

Wenger Men's 70163 Commando Series Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

Don't usually write reviews, but wanted to say, I have had this watch now for about two years and it has been a great watch. I have worn it surfing, on rough trips to Haiti, camping, etc, and it has never failed me. I have bought other watches over the last two years, and always end up going back to this one. Many of my friends opted for Swiss Army watches, and I think all of them but one have ended up with watches that don't even keep good time, and often need repair.
I'd say if I had any problem with this watch, it is the size. For many out there, this is in no means a big watch, but I have kinda small wrists and also am not a fan of the recent craze of huge hunks of metal on a guy's wrist just to tell the time. I would love this watch even more if it was just a little smaller.
One thing I love, and is not entirely evident in the photo, is the color of this watch. I'm not sure why, but this watch has a slightly cool grey tone to it. Not blue by any means, just not a rosy glow. Kinda reminds me of the silver finishes you can get on German cars like Mercedes or BMW. Also, the links are really comfortable, and not in any way noisy or clanky.

Nice watch but when I received it it wasn't working. May be the battery - shouldn't be shipped out with dead batteries. This was a gift in which I gave to the recipient and then had to take back because it wasn't working.
